| HAMPSHIRE COUNTY PET ADOPTION PROGRAM Want to Help? |

| If you would like to help us and the animals you can volunteer, foster or donate. If you would like to donate, please click here. If you would like to volunteer or foster please read on... Volunteering Because we are not a shelter we do not have a facility that you can come to volunteer. However, we could always use some help on Saturdays during our Adoption Days. Some of the things you could do are: take the dogs for their potty breaks, make sure all the crates are clean and that all the animals have water. You could brush any of the animals that need to be or even just give the animals some love. There are of course may other things that can be done but these are just a few. If you would like to help us out on Saturdays please give us a call or email. Fostering HCPAP relies on foster homes. We always have animals in need of a foster home. Because we are not a shelter the animals are in foster homes already. However, some of them are not in a home that they are most compatible with. A foster home that meets all their unique needs is what we want. One of the hardest foster homes to find (which is the one we need the most) is one without cats. Some dogs like to follow the old rule that they are not supposed to like cats. This makes it hard on their current foster parents. If you have a cat-free home and would like to be a HUGE help to us and the dogs then please give us a call or email. Even if you have cats we still would love your help. All the animals are different and there is sure to be one that fits your household. If you foster, HCPAP will supply the food and pay for any veterinary care. Your job as a foster parent would be to provide care and love for your foster. You would also have to be able to get your foster to PetSmart on Saturdays for our Adoption Days. You are not required to stay for the day. If they do not get adopted you just need to come by and pick them up. If after you start fostering you find that it is too much that is ok. You do not sign any papers that say you must keep the animal until they get adopted. We understand that things might not work out. If the animal you are fostering isn't adjusting well and you would like to try fostering another animal that is fine. Fostering is like a temporary adoption. During the time that you have a foster it should be as if you have adopted them. Fostering helps the animals get used to everyday things that they will encounter after they have been adopted. It also gives us a better understanding of the type of home the animal needs. Each animal is different so they have different needs. Fostering gives us the ability to find out what those needs are. Some animals need more one-on-one attention while others will be right at home the second they walk through the door. Regardless, you will be helping an animal prepare for their perfect home. If you would like to have a truly rewarding experience give us a call or email so we can find out if we can help you get started. |
